以下のように文章が入れ子構造になっているとき，and のかわりに as well as を使いたくなる。これが表現としてスマートかどうかわからないので，まずは論文から事例を集めてみる。

この文章では，the axonal membrane and myelin seath の integrity と local coherence of myellinated axons が並列に並べられている。このような場合，下線の as well as を and にすると切れ目がわかりにくくなるので，as well as を使った方が良いと思われる。
