  1. ミトコンドリアと酸化ストレスの概要

ミトコンドリア mitochondria は活性酸素 reactive oxygen species (ROS) の大部分が産生される場所であり，老化や様々な病気と関わりが深い。

活性酸素が生じる場所

ミトコンドリアのどの部分で活性酸素が生じるかは不明な点が多いが，生じるフリーラジカルの少なくとも50%は complex I の機能不全による（1）。

> インドール indole のなかには，電子伝達を助けてフリーラジカルの漏出を抑えるものがある（2）。
